Welcoming our community for IAM’s signature event of the year. This event celebrates India’s Independence Day.
It is one of a kind open air, free-for-all event that is organized by IAM at the MN State Capitol Grounds. The event sees anywhere upwards of 20,000 visitors who enjoy the multiculrutal booths on display, delectable Indian cuisine put up by our restaurant and food truck partners, colorful Bazaar selling Indian handicrafts, clothing and jewelry.
A large cultural stage has a variety of entertaining group performances put forth for the attendees by our local Asian Indian community groups spanning all age groups, through the day. The event culminates with Bollywood Night from 7-9pm, when the stage is lit up and the ground converts into an open dance floor.
Kids Games & Entertainment is another key area that sees a lot of foot traffic through the day.
One of the key highlights of the event is the flag hoisting ceremony and student achievement awards handed out in the middle of the day, in the presence of several elected State and Federal officials.
Metro Transit would be providing free transit passes for the event on August 17th from 9AM to 11PM, sparing the attendees the parking hassles in and around downtown St Paul.
For those interested in setting up their booths at the event and those interested in registering for group performances on the cultural stage, here are the registration links:
