Achievement Award Categories:
Category
Description of Excellence
General:
Well rounded accomplishments, with primary focus on Academic achievements
Community Service/Civic Engagement:
Contribution to the Community through leadership in Community Service and Civic Engagements
Entrepreneurial Leadership:
Founder/Co-founder/Leader of an entity (non-profit/profit) and/or demonstrated Leadership to promote an entity that benefits the society at large
Arts & Sports:
Achievements in any form of Cultural Arts or any Sport
5 total scholarships would be awarded in the above categories, each getting a personalized plaque and $1000 as the scholarship amount.
Selection Process:
Applicants are required to write an essay making their case in the category they are applying for the scholarship. They are also required to submit a cover letter and 3 letters of recommendations (from anyone other than their parents or family members).
Applications will be reviewed by an IAM appointed committee, for each of the applied categories
Deadline for the submissions would be 11:29pm of July 25th, 2024
Family members of the review committee are not entitled to apply
Review Committee members will review and rate all valid applications and recommend the names of selected achievement awardees to the IAM President
IAM President will inform the award winners by August 5th, 2024
Decision of IAM will be final and binding
Results may also be published on IAM website (iamn.org) or other communications from IAM
Award recipients will be recognized on Saturday, Aug 17th, 2024 at IndiaFest flag hoisting event at the St Paul State Capitol Grounds
Applicant Requirements
Applicant must be a legal US resident.
Applicant need NOT be of Asian Indian origin, but should have been involved with activities/causes related to Asian Indian community.
Applicant must have graduated from a Minnesota High School in the year 2024.
Applicant must be a first-time degree seeking freshman in the Fall of 2024 at a four-year degree program in the United States.
Applicant must have completed and submitted all applicable paperwork by the application deadline.

Eligibility Criteria:

Mentorship:
Interns will be paired with an IAM assigned Mentor
Mentors will guide their Intern Mentees throughout their engagement with IAM
Ongoing check-ins and feedback from other IAM board members and alumni
Time Commitment:
Flexible day and evening time commitment
Up to ~4-5 hours per week
Compensation: Intern positions are unpaid. However, the experiences with the India Association of Minnesota will provide opportunities to give back to the community, network, build a portfolio and gain valuable professional and leadership skills.
